Antique Distaff Besom

The Besoms in this collection are all tied on Antique Distaffs. I loved this collection so much because these distaffs were actual practical well used fiber arts tools, they lived an entire life helping some unknown to us spinner turn fiber into thread, and then at some point they were set aside or left to be forgotten in some attic etc... Giving these tools a new life in which they could be loved beyond their utility brought me immense joy. This piece measures roughly 4.5 feet in length it's fibers are all dyed and blended by hand with a woven basket reed cap.
